This is hard to write! My pregnancy was difficult from day one. Early on we were told our babies heart was too slow and there was a chance he wouldn’t make it. At 30 weeks I was rushed by ambulance to UVM due to severe preeclampsia complications. They were sure I would be delivering in the coming days. This was our first experience with the Ronald McDonald House. They assured us we would have a place to stay while our little boy would be in the NICU. Two weeks later on June 6th I had an emergency c-section and had a perfect 3 lb little boy named Colton. He stayed in the NICU for a few days before staying in the NTS for 6 weeks. During this time I’m not sure what we would have done without the RMH and staff. Not only did we have delicious meals and a comfy bed…I had support from all angles. The staff always asked how Colton was doing and made me feel like they really cared. Most importantly we met some amazing people who quickly became our friends. We had each other for the laughs and tears as we shared stories from the day. The RMH was truly my home away from home and we will be forever grateful to have been able to stay with our little boy the entire time. -Christina
